A WELCOME COMMENT FROM ONE OF OUR GAME PLAYERS IN THE GREAT STATE OF FLORIDA

Nice Comment from Florida

I asked Diane how she became an AHnF Player and this is the pleasant response I received;

Our friends brought this game down from Wisconsin.

The rules were so different than the original hand and foot I wasn’t sure I would like it.  It didn’t take long though to become addicted. We play at least four times a week now!

Kind Regards,

Diane

When I said to Diane that Wisconsin is the capital of American Hand n Foot she said, “Leedsburg, FL may well become the reining capital!

Thanks Diane,

Jerry

Group Plays Game for Hours and Hours

Jeannie from MO ordered a game for her brother, who resides in Utah, for his birthday.

What a testimony we heard from Jeannie today!  Sooo Much Fun to listen her story and other very similar stories.  It  is what keeps us going, thank you, thank you!

She says her  group of 7 gets together often at Lake of the Ozarks in MO and when they do it’s a MARTHON game, Playing for as many as 14 hours at a time.  It goes without saying that these folks are longtime friends having gone through grade school, high school and college together.

Jeannie, we hope that our game has not only given your group many hours of fun times but that it has also strengthened your wonderful friendships.

Now that will be very tough to beat, Jeannie!  Thank you!  We are so happy you folks LOVE our game!

Happy Easter

We extend our greeting to all who visit us here and those who play and enjoy our “best card game”.  This Easter will be one that is far different than any I have experienced, more than likely you as well.  Never the less, it is still Easter with the same wondrous meaning so we are sending our sincere wish for you;

HAPPY EASTER!

Red Chips in Our Card Game, Why?

What is the reason for chips in the game??

Early in the development stage of our game Dot, one of the twin founders, was determined to have something significant to make sure everyone in the game KNEW that a player was in their “Foot” and is likely closer to going out so be aware!

The first thing she came up with was that each of the players were to choose our own unique “noise” for the event.  My “noise” was to use my mouth and blow making a trumpet sound.  The tune was the trumpets “Charge”!  Others had their own unique sounds, it was kind of fun and sort of sappy at the same time!  #familyentertainment

Dot continued to look for something better to use and one day came home with 6 very nice children’s books and proceeded to cut from the book the attached frogs which when pushing downward on the frog it made a croaking noise.  That was our “going into the foot warning” until later Dot making the decision along with Auntie to change these indicators to the presently used red chips.

Hope you can enjoy this little story and that you are staying safe and healthy during these very trying days.

Question re. Best Card Game

January 9, 2020

Is it allowed to add wild cards to a book that is already completed? Wild Card, Flag or Joker to dirty (black) book or Flag only to clean (red) book?

That came up tonight as we were playing.

Thanks!

Answer:

Hello AHNF best card game Player, greetings from the state of 10,000 lakes!

Thank you for your question. It’s always fun to hear from our game players as you play through these things and have a desire to check it out so everyone is playing the correct way!!

To answer your question: NO, you may not add Wild cards to already completed books.

To help to clarify this for you, none of the Wild cards or Flag card may be played on a book once the book is completed/closed.
The only card that can be played on a completed book is a card that the book is made of. i.e… if your book is made of six’s and closed up you may add a six or six’s.

Part of the process of playing a hand a person may realize they have a lot of wild cards and this makes the individual think beyond the norm as to “how will I handle this” before my neighbor goes out! But, sorry, you may not add Wild cards to already completed books. In that same vein, you may not make a book of only Wild cards and you may not make duplicate books ( i.e. only one book of sixes).

Is This Game Still Relevant?

Recently a very good long time customer came to our warehouse to pick up a number (6) of games.  During our exchange she questioned me about the game.  The question she asked is “is the game still popular”?  I was taken aback by this due to the fact she was picking up numerous games for different people which for me speaks to whether the game is still popular or not!

On the other hand, I suppose she doesn’t see the whole picture like we do so I will share some information with her and the rest of you.  We currently are shipping to 25 states in the US.  We have several customers who purchase multiple games for gifts and/or friends in a successful effort to save on the freight.  Wisconsin, which has been a leader in playing and loving this game, continues to support us and establish new areas of play!

New pockets of activity are springing up around the country including cruise ships, church groups, senior homes and others across the US from the state of Washington to Florida and Maryland to California and of course places in between.

Thank all of you for your support and the love you have shown, it is inspiring!

Flag Card is Unique

This is taken from our page of instructions with some additional explanation:

The FLAG card is a card with a twist.  It can be utilized as an IDENTICAL card or a WILD card.  *The FLAG card is the ONLY card that can be changed back and forth (from a Red Book to a Black Book) within the SAME TABLE GROUP at any time PRIOR to closing the book.  (This means a player has an option to call the book a black or a red book upon closing the book.  A PLAYER CANNOT PICK UP THE FLAG CARD AND PLAY IT IN A DIFFERENT GROUP OF CARDS.)  Our game adheres to the old adage that “a card laid is a card played”.

The option of making it a red (natural) book has to do with this; a player plays the FLAG card with 2 cards to help make a meld.  As the play continues the player ends up with 4 more of the natural cards that were played with the FLAG card.  At that point all 6 natural cards are played with the FLAG which makes the book RED or NATURAL.

The option of making the book a black book is usually when a player needs a black book to go out and has no hope of getting more of the natural card but has wild cards the player can play 2 more wild cards in the group, call the FLAG card a wild card along with 2 other wild cards and 4 natural cards and fold it up as a black book.

We Love These Comments

From RG: My husband R_____and I just moved into an RV/Mobile home park in Texas.  They have game nights here and have one of your American Hand and Foot games. I love it so much I wanted to get my own. Thanks.

WISCONSIN IS TOPS! (But so are YOU)

Hey Players and Hope to be Players,

Joan and I were going through our family card game customer list just as a matter of record .  Primarily what was of interest to us was to find out how many states/countries we currently ship to and which state appears to have the most players based on shipping addresses.

The state of Wisconsin is by far the American Hand n Foot card playing capital of the world followed by Minnesota.  That didn’t surprise us but it DOES seem strange that once again Wisconsin trumps Minnesota especially since our residence is in Minnesota!

We offer our profound gratitude to the great Badger state and of course to all of you who know, play and love our card game.  Since our birth in 2005 we have shipped games to how many states (guess the number of states, I’ll respond in a few days with the answer) and to Canada as well.  (some Canadians maintain a state side shipping address)

We do want to also say thank you to our players because without you talking up our card game this would not have happened.  This distribution is the result of “word of mouth” advertising by you players who have cared enough to talk up our game.  The main contribution we have made for the marketing of the American Hand n Foot was the shipping of multiple games to the military back in the early days as well as a few training events here and in Wisconsin.  One local paper also interviewed and wrote a nice article otherwise it’s all our American Hand n Foot players!!

I wish we had an occasion to honor our All Stars kind of like MLB.  We could name them for sure.  Wouldn’t it be fun to have an American Hand n Foot tournament some day or week end?

Jerry

A note from Jerry

Hi Everyone!

It’s certainly a beautiful day in the neighborhood. Joan and I are sitting out on the deck here in Minnesota.  She has her computer, I have mine but here we sit together  She is looking at the yard and thinking about what she can do next to make it even more inviting than it already is!  Me, I’m trying to figure out whether I can make the Americanhandnfoot.com website more searchable for folks, as in “how to find us”.  I have had extensive computer work during my work career however this is another ball game.  Terms such as “hyperlink” and “XML site maps” and so forth  have me scratching my head.  At least the scratch is not an itch and like I said earlier, “it’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood.  I think I’ll listen to some bird talk.  They certainly are chattering away out here!

Lost Our Special American Hand and Foot Buddy

A Chihuahua Blessing

It’s one of those things that is destined to happen.  Our Bruno the Chihuahua passed away on May 1, 2019, leaving behind an ocean of tears but many really great memories.  I’ve heard that a Chihuahua is a one person dog.  Not true.  What Bruno managed to do was make you believe you were the most important being in his life.  When he pranced around the room he made each of us feel that way.  In this photo he is snuggling with Dot at a family Christmas celebration.  Bruno often sat on someones lap as we played American Hand n Foot.  Some of us often suspected him of being a spy and would somehow pass information on to others playing the game what was being held by the person who’s lap he was sitting in!

A Directions Question/Answer

The following question was asked of us recently:

It’s not clear, when at the start of the game, if we are supposed to turn up 1 card, 3 cards, or no cards onto the discard pile?

If you have had the same question or similar, this is the answer:

Your question is a good one, I confess that it is one that we didn’t discuss after going over the game’s directions many times and making revisions when we thought something needed to be better defined!
The answer to your question is that you turn over “none” to begin. The first card that is shown face up is the first player’s discard.

Flag Card Correct Play

Our Flag Card IS unique, folks, but wait a minute.  As our directions state  (partial copy above)  it can be changed back and forth “within the same table group” at any time PRIOR to closing the book.  At the time of closing the player declares the book to be either “red” or “black”. This means the card stays in the place as originally played.  It is not to be picked up from where it was played and moved to another set of cards.  Like is often said, “a card laid is a card played” and that applies in this case as well!
